The King & I

When I first heard King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard, the Australian rock band, I thought their tone was very good sounding. They were making cool interesting rock music that sounded good to my ears. But how can you achieve the same rock tones that they had in their music without breaking the bank? When you first hear the band you realize that theyre music is very LOUD rock. So the first step to sounding like King Gizzard is to get a electirc guitar. Band members such as Cook Craig and Joey Walker play very very loudly so you will want to match their sounds. One key to sounding like King Gizzard & the LIzard Wizard, along with a key to sounding like many other rock artists of today and yesterday, is to get your hand on some sweet pedals. You could own many of them, which would create a very heavy pedalboard that is hard to carry, so we recommend getting a all-in-one unit to achieve the King Gizzard sounds. A good option is the Electro-Harmonix Stereo Polychorus. FOr $199 it does various sounds including Chorus & Flanger. It has multiple sounds in the box, which is all you will need to sound like King Gizzard. Chorus is a very psychedelic sound, so it will instantly have the feeling of being a heavily trippy sounding guitar!

Pedals

The Grateful Dead are known to plug there guitars into pedals to achieve some of the sounds they use. Jerry would use an envelope filter to make his guitar sound weird and different than how it sounded before. So why not get one to sound like him (and John Mayer)? Maybe buy this Strymon Moebius pedal. For $600 its a great deal, which would probabyl make you sound like Jerry, Bob Weir and John Mayer too! It feature the phaser, flanger and other sounds in the box.

Long Strange Trip

It will be a long strange trip to figure out how to sound like the Dead or Dead & Co. featuring John MAyer, however with this guide it just got a whole lot easier than it was before.

 

It was the best of Grimes, it was the worst of….

Times, because the money ran out and there wasn’t enough stored away to buy gear so that you could record music in the style of Grimes. Grimes is an excellent musical artist so to get started sounding like her you will need some gear.
